durlabhO durgamO durgO durAvAsO durArihA ||
SamAvarta: -- He turns the cycles of time precisely. He again and again incarnates Himself for the sake of devotees.
AnivruttAtmA -- Because of His mercy and the indissoluble relationship with the beings He never withdraws from helping them towards moksha.
Durjaya: -- Unless He out of His grace yields to us nobody can force Him or reach Him purely by their own efforts.
Duratikrama: -- What He thinks can never be transgressed.
Durlabha: -- We cannot think that He is easy to get just like things. It is our sincere surrender and His grace that can get Him.
Durgama: -- To reach Him by one's own efforts is impossible.
Durga: -- If we think we are able to approach Him, our sins weigh heavily on us and avidya is enough to block us.
DurAvAsa: -- For beings coming round in samsara His abode is beyond the reach.
DurArihA -- Surrendering to Him and praying to Him earnestly, He dispels all the hurdles.
